Beatles Ranking Round 1 Part 1

As I mentioned in my earlier post I am going to pick my favorite Beatles song and after doing a little research here is how I am going to do it. There are about 208 Beatles songs depending on how you count some songs. I am including their covers and some of their very short songs for the sake of thoroughness. This is not going to be an exact science of course. I wanted to kinda  put the songs together in a somewhat random way while still keeping the better songs from matching up very early on. I did this by taking a random persons listing of all the Beatles songs. I don’t agree with their rankings but it seemed like a good jumping on point. So without further ado here are the first 16 songs that are being matched up. I will post results tomorrow. I may do a little commentary on the pairings but no promises:

A Return to Action

It has been just over two months since my last post. I could say I stopped posting because I got really busy which is true but the bottom line is I just haven’t made the time for it. I really regret that because I have enjoyed doing this blog in the past. I have written primarily about more serious matters and haven’t done a lot of more fun posts. I would like to do more of that. A great deal has happened in the last couple of months, most of it good. My best friend got married, I met a wonderful w0man and have been dating her for a coming in on two months, the delivery program is off the ground, and I have began training for another half-marathon. All in all a very good couple of months.

I will write more about what has happened soon but like I wrote before I want to do some more light things as well. So what I am going to do is something I have been thinking about for a little while. I am a huge fan of The Beatles. I have not been a fan my entire life but they are something I came to as an adult. Well here of late that has been pretty much all I have been listening too. I have made my way through their albums time and time again. I love starting with their first album, Please Please Me to their last Let it Be. I have also listened to Past Masters which collected their singles. I don’t have a lot of musical knowledge but I know what I like. So what is all this leading up too…? Well I thought I would rank the Beatles songs. Why would I want to take on such a big endeavor? Mainly because I kind of love lists and also because a few people have asked me on multiple occasions what my favorite Beatles song is and I haven’t been able to commit to just one.

I haven’t decided exactly how I am going to do it. I was thinking of a tournament or something like that. It looks like there are about 208 songs. I am going by the Beatles UK discography and including Past Masters. I am not including instrumentals or songs that were less than 1 minute long. As soon as I figure out exactly how this is going down I will post it.It is good to be back
